Maja Simišić is a multimedia artist focusing on everyday battles, and finding ways to turn them on their head. The model she uses to overthrow existing gender and class struggles in her work is built by analysing the expectations put on us by modern societal structures and historical narratives.
I met Maja at the rave in Rotterdam and two months later I was designing her portfolio website. (I love life!) Maja and I have the same ground when it comes to rules - We are very anti-everything. So for her website I wanted to create a virtual space which resembles Maja’s personality rather than white-cube artist portfolio. I keep it simple and old school, almost anti-design.
